When I was growing up, we didn't have many sports to choose from to participate in school. I believe we had football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball.

That's it.

Nowadays, kids have way more options to choose from and Wylie Independent School District is adding another to the list of club teams for junior high and high school kids.

Bass Fishing!

You read that right, Wylie students will soon get to participate in bass fishing. I mean, it makes sense since our area has plenty of lakes for bass fishing. That, and it gets the kids out of the house and taking part in outdoor activities.

While I'm not great at fishing, I sure would love to take a time machine back to my school days so I could start a bass fishing team.

How do I sign my kids up for the Wylie Bass Fishing Team?

On Thursday, June 30th, there will be an "informational meeting" in the Wylie High School library.

High school students (and parents) will meet between 6 and 6:45 pm, then junior high students (and parents) between 6:45 and 7:30 pm.

The time will be used to answer any questions as well as inform you about rules and regulations, participation, and expectations of the student fishermen/women.

So make plans to attend that meeting if you would like to join the Wylie Bass Fishing Team.

By the way, check out this awesome logo for the team.

According to their team page,

We are a competitive high school fishing team that promotes sportsmanship, life lessons, leadership skills, and the art of tournament bass fishing in West Texas.

Good luck to all of you soon-to-be anglers of the Wylie Bass Fishing Team.
