Musical foursome Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook -- together known as Little Big Town -- have been tapped to host the 2018 CMT Music Awards, their first major hosting gig as a band. The country quartet says they intend to maintain their reputation of being one of the nicest bands in Nashville on awards show night.

"It's a party, and we love a party, and we want to host a party!" Sweet tells CMT, adding that viewers shouldn't expect any onstage roasting of their fellow artists. “I think if we roast with four people, it might be overwhelming. When you prank four times over, you’re bound to get pranked back.”

While Little Big Town's hosting dialogue will of course be scripted to avoid any messes, the group says there will still be challenges during the show. Changing looks throughout the night will certainly complicate matters -- though more for Fairchild and Schlapman than Sweet and Westbrook.

“You won’t believe how many jeans and T-shirts Jimi and I are going to change into,” Sweet jokes.

But Schlapman says the energy of the crowd is what they're looking forward to the most: "I love the crowd there; they're so electric," she says. "It's like the most excited crowd that we see almost all year."

Little Big Town will open the 2018 CMT Music Awards with a performance of their brand-new single, "Summer Fever." The ceremony will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (June 6) at 8PM ET.
