There are just some things people who are not from Texas just don't get, and movies and TV shows haven't helped out either. For those not originally from Texas, I understand the fascination with our state, it is quite interesting, large, and mysterious but some of the questions I have been asked over the years are just downright amusing.

4 SILLY QUESTIONS I HAVE BEEN ASKED BEFORE ABOUT LIVING IN THE LONESTAR STATE:

"Do you have an oil well in your backyard?"

Well, of course! I go out and flip a switch and my pumpjack will fill up my gas tank with free gas, and then I just flip it back and I can change my oil with the free oil that my pumpjack provides. I have seriously been asked that before. Can you imagine what your neighborhood would look like with a pumpjack in everyone's backyard? Do people truly think this is real life? I WISH!

"Oh, you're from Texas? I bet you spend all your off time in Dallas and Houston huh?"

I love it when non-Texans don't realize that just because they came from a state that is the size of a Texas county, not all states are a mere stroll down the street to get across like their tiny state. Many are shocked to learn that there are almost 900 miles between El Paso and Texarkana and from where we live it is about a 5-hour drive to get to most major cities.

"How many horses do you have?"

Well, there is my work horse that I only ride to work on, then there is the sport horse that I ride to Dallas on, then there is the family horse that I use to carry the family on to go to dinner or the mall. The film industry has made it to where everyone thinks we all own a horse just because we are in Texas.

"Do you wear cowboy boots all the time?"

Yes, nothing makes a workout more of a workout than a good pair of boots on the treadmill. I do own several pairs of boots but no, they do not get worn every single day. Contrary to non-Texans popular belief boots are not the most comfortable footwear for a woman to wear all day every day, they are more for looks and to complete a fabulous outfit for a night out!
