Now, here's a hot button issue if there ever was one! Can you take a guess at what lovely Texas town deserves the golden donkey tail crown for Most Conservative?

Conservatism, as explained by Wikipedia, is a "cultural, social, and political philosophy that seeks to promote and to preserve traditional institutions, practices, and values." And the Lone Star state has long been a ruby-colored Red state by majority rule. You'll find that the culture of Texas is laced with tenets of the Republican party throughout.

Which brings us back to our original question.....which Texas town is the reddest one of them all?

Well, there's a few contenders on the list, and some were a pretty close tie...but take a gander at the results. The top pick just might surprise you!

5. Lubbock

Unsurprisingly, the city that's the proud home of Texas Tech and the Red Raiders rank right in the top. Lubbock is a city that has historically lived by the phrase "bleed red".

  • 65.4% of Lubbock County voters supported the Republican nominee in the 2020 presidential election.
  • 61% of the population identifying as religious, according to the Association of Religion Data Archives

4. Amarillo

Two hours north of Lubbock is the slightly smaller sister city of Amarillo. However, it's only smaller in population--because it's bigger in Republican parties!

  • 69.9% of Potter County voters and 79.8% of Randall County voters cast their ballot for the Republican nominee in the 2020 presidential election.

3. Odessa/Midland

Because the two cities are so comparable in size, geography, and population.....it can be safely assumed that the neighboring towns are the twin red flames of Texas conservatism.

  • 69.9% of Ector County voters voted for the Republican nominee in the 2020 presidential election
  • 53% of Odessa’s population consider themselves religious, according to the Association of Religion Data Archives.

Surprised? So were we. The Central Texas town of Temple swoops in for the Most Conservative Town in Texas for good reason. The numerous churches and faith-based organizations found throughout the area are proof of the Republican party's hold.

  • 69.2% of voters in Bell County showed their electoral support for the Republican nominee in the 2020 presidential election
  • 50% of Temple’s population describes themselves as religious, according to the Association of Religion Data Archives

The Somewhat Small Towns of the Texas Panhandle

Say what now? Somewhat small?

That's right. These are the towns that seem massive when compared to teensy weensie two-stoplight towns like Pringle (30) or Kerrick (25), but they're definitely not on the same level as cities like White Deer or Panhandle....much less Amarillo.

Buckle up! We've got a places to go and towns to see! These populations are well over 100, but way less than 1000.

All aboard the Somewhat Small Texas Panhandle Towns tour!
