Dan + Shay joined American Idol Season 17 finalist Madison VanDenburg during Sunday night's (May 19) season finale of the TV singing competition. The superstar country duo took the stage solo at first, performing their latest single, "All to Myself."

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney kicked off the performance in front of a billowing cloud of smoke, singing in trademark close harmony on the mid-tempo, intimate track. Following that song, the duo welcomed just-eliminated VanDenburg to the stage to join them for fan-favorite track "Speechless." Together, the three performers traded sky-high vocal runs and harmonies that wowed the crowd.

VanDenburg, one of the three finalists the outset of American Idol's Sunday night finale, is a 17-year-old from Cohoes, N.Y., near Albany. She attends Shaker High School. After performances from all three finalists, she was eliminated during the show's final episode.

Dan + Shay are currently riding a wave of success thanks to their third studio album, a 2018 self-titled project. The record earned the pair their first Grammys nomination and win, and has garnered acclaim from the CMA and ACM Awards as well.

American Idol has been renewed for an 18th season, its third on ABC, after its cancellation by Fox. Specific details for the new season have not yet been revealed.
