Country radio personality/comedian Bobby Bones is already a veteran of ABC's American Idol, having joined the top 24 Idol hopefuls last season as they prepared to take the stage with their all-star celebrity duet partners. For the upcoming season, however, he'll be taking on an expanded role, offering up his expertise throughout the entire run.

The news was revealed during Monday night's (Nov. 5) telecast of ABC's other smash-hit reality series, Dancing with the Stars, on which Bones is a competitor this season.

How exactly the network will be utilizing Bones' talent throughout the season is yet to be determined. It's not a huge surprise he's taking on a bigger role on the show, however, as he's had his eye on that particular direction for some time.

According to Variety, Bones' initial successful turn on the show had him hankering for more television work: "If I didn't want that, I'd be lying," he told the outlet.

Bones has already carved out a significant place in Nashville, with Forbes naming him “the most powerful man in country music” in 2017. He'll be joining returning judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie for the new season of the show.
