Predictably, the feedback among West Texas GOP lawmakers is that Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney made a wise choice in selecting Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as a running mate. But last I checked, it’s important to have the backing of fellow party members, but even more important to have voters’ approval.

For the record, according to an Abilene Reporter-News report, U.S. Rep. Randy Neugebauer said he likes Paul Ryan, because not only does he understand the country’s fiscal problems, but he’s also been aggressive about proposing possible solutions. “I really think that’s what the American people are ready for,” says Neugebauer. He agrees with Ryan on the belief that government needs to be downsized.

“Government has gotten way too big. It’s coming at the point where the government is taking more and more of our civil liberties out, and so I think better decisions are made at the local and the state levels.”

U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry also praised Ryan as the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee. He stated,

“Particularly when it comes to defense budgets, [Ryan and I have] talked quite a bit. I respect him quite a bit.”

A spokesperson for Mike Conaway says the U.S. Rep. agrees with Neugebauer and Thornberry.

Three Republican politicians from the Big Country are on board with the Romney-Ryan ticket. That’s a pretty predictable result. How do you feel about Paul Ryan? Is he the best choice for Mitt Romney’s running mate? Take this poll and share your opinion in the comment section below.
