Did you ever have a teacher that really stood out and you wished you could go back and tell them thank you for the knowledge and guidance they gave you? I've had a few of those in my life, some elementary, some high school and even one from college. I recently ran into one of my favorite high school English teachers and was able to actually tell her 'thank you'.

I was getting gas the other day and she, Mrs. Carthel, happened to be at the next pump. I told her I was one of her former students and when I told her my name she did, in fact, remember me. I told her I had thought of her many times over the years and I was glad I ran into her because I wanted to tell her how much I learned from her.

Mrs. Carthel was my, I believe, Junior year, English teacher. I loved her class, Creative Writing. She taught me skills that I still to this day use. There were classes I have never used in everyday life, like Geometry or Algebra, but English I use daily. I loved English and writing so much I started out as a Journalism major in college. Although that eventually turned into straight Communications.

I love to read, I love to write, I love to be creative and it's, much in part, due to Mrs. Carthel. Teachers don't get enough thanks so when you have an opportunity, as I did, be sure to let them know how much you appreciate them and what an impact they have had on your life.
