Rising country star Mickey Guyton has announced the sad news that her beloved grandmother has passed away.

Guyton broke the news on Twitter on Sunday (Feb. 5), with a post saying, "RIP to my grandma. Heaven got an angel today," accompanied by a photo of a quilt. Guyton also shared the news across other social media sites: She posted two photos on Instagram, one with her and her sister shining brightly as they pose with their grandmother -- the caption reads "RIP my angel" -- and another solo picture of her grandma smiling while standing in her kitchen.

In early January, Guyton was asking fans to send prayers to her grandmother, saying she wasn't doing well and to "pray for comfort as she makes a new transition."

The 33-year-old singer enjoyed another (happier) major life event in late 2016, with the announcement that she's engaged to her longtime boyfriend of four years. Guyton's fiancee is a lawyer in Texas.

"It's not about finding the perfect person. It's about finding someone that you can go thru heaven and hell with," the singer wrote in an Instagram post about her engagement.

Guyton served as an opening act on Brad Paisley's 2015 tour, performing Alison Krauss’ portion of the duet "Whiskey Lullaby" with him every night, and released her second single, "Heartbreak Song," in June 2016. She made her debut on the country music scene with her first single, “Better Than You Left Me,” in 2015, quickly making a name for herself in the genre. The track broke the Top 40 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.
