Lady Antebellum Are Eager to Celebrate Father’s Day 2017 at Home
Thanks to the release of their long-awaited Heart Break album and their busy You Look Good World Tour, Lady Antebellum find time at home to be a luxury these days. But fortuitously, the trio -- Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott, all of whom are proud parents of one child each -- will be home on Sunday (June 18) in time to celebrate Father's Day.
"We have a crazy week of non-stop schedule right up until the Saturday before, and Sunday, we get the whole day together with our family," Haywood told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "So being able to carve those moments out will always be a priority."
For Haywood the great example that his father set inspires him as he raises his son Cash.
"For me personally, [my dad] is such a great role model -- always there for all of the important events for me growing up," Haywood shares. "And for us, as a band that travels, a lot of that’s always on the forefront of my mind, is how to make that a priority, the moments that are important to be there for, and bringing our kids as much as we can to be there for those moments as well."
Each of the Lady A members' children -- Cash, Kelley's son Ward and Scott's daughter Eisele -- travel with their parents. Having the kids on the road presents a unique set of challenges, though.
"It’s funny to say that I’m a father; it makes me feel so grown up. I guess, as cliche as it sounds, it does move really fast," Kelley reflects. "And now that [Ward is] 16 months old, he’s out there on this Lady Antebellum tour, waking up in the middle of the night going, ‘Where the hell am I?’ and crying. It’s like, oh my gosh, we’ve got this whole new cycle of this kid being very aware of where he is."
Even though he's young, Ward has opinions on which of his dad's songs is his favorite.
"Kids love beat -- anything that has a groove -- and "You Look Good" is Ward’s favorite song, it really is. Between "Hey Bartender," "Downtown" and "You Look Good," those are the songs that Ward loves," Kelley shares. "He does dance to "Heart Break" ... Ward loves "Heart Break.""
