Keith Urban Reveals Plans for ‘Graffiti U’ Album, 2018 Tour
Keith Urban has big plans for 2018: a new album and a tour, with special guest Kelsea Ballerini. Urban hosted a Facebook Live event from Exit / In in Nashville on Wednesday night (Jan. 17) to share his big news -- and play a pop-up show for media members and fans who braved the cold.
During his Exit / In show, Urban announced that his new album will be called Graffiti U and is coming "this year -- very soon, I hope." Urban did not reveal any further details about the album, though earlier on Wednesday, he teased via a social media video that something -- perhaps a new song called "Parallel Line" -- is coming on Friday (Jan. 19).
"I'm getting very close to finishing it," Urban told the crowd. During his Exit / In show, after his Facebook Live stream ended, he performed new songs titled "Steal My Thunder," "Same Heart" and "Texas Time."
Urban will also be hitting the road in 2018 for his Graffiti U World Tour. Ballerini was on hand to help Urban announce the trek, too; together, they performed a cover of Camila Cabello's "Never Be the Same." Via the Facebook Live, Urban then used a video to announce his full slate of Graffiti U World Tour dates.
Urban's Graffiti U World Tour will begin on June 15 in St. Louis, Mo., and run through early November. A list of cities in which the tour will stop is below; Lindsay Ell will open instead of Ballerini on select dates.
Urban's most recent single, "Female," was released in early November. At the time, the singer shared that the song was not necessarily going to part of his next record, or indicative that a new album was on the way, but over the summer, the country star revealed that he was in the studio.
Urban last released a new album, Ripcord, in May of 2016; he's spent the months since promoting the project and releasing hit singles from the record. Urban's most recent single from the disc is “The Fighter,” a call-and-response-style duet featuring Carrie Underwood. Although the two have performed the song live together a number of times, Urban has also found unique ways to fill in Underwood’s parts when he’s alone.
Urban spent the latter half of 2016 out on the road for his Ripcord World Tour, with Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris as his special guests; he also toured in Australia and New Zealand near the end of 2016, with Underwood.
Whenever Urban releases Graffiti U, it will be his 10th solo studio album.
