In 2018, Jade Bird captivated audiences with searing, grunge-inflected country-meets-rock songs such as "Lottery" and "Uh Huh," making appearances at festivals and even performing live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. With momentum and an ever-expanding fanbase building behind her, the singer has announced her full-length studio debut, Jade Bird, for release on April 19 via Glassnote Records.

Rolling Stone reports that the 21-year-old English singer-songwriter wrote every song on the 12-track project, something that, for her, was an important component of making the album.

"I'm hoping to write the album 100 percent by myself," Bird told Rolling Stone in August of 2018. "Which, nowadays, is quite a rare thing. The artists I love, like Elliott Smith, they wrote their own songs, and the imperfections make a perfect album in the end. But you only get imperfections by people who don't point out your imperfections and go, 'Maybe we should rewrite that.'"

In May of 2018, Bird hinted in an interview with The Boot that fans wouldn't have to wait too long for a full-length collection. She also explained that, in writing for the album, she was focusing on crafting lyrics that rang both true to her perspective and could also be inclusive of the wide variety of listeners that make up her fanbase.

After wrapping a string of tour dates in Europe, Bird will embark on a U.S. tour opening for Hozier. That run will kick off on March 10 in Buffalo, N.Y.
