Buzzzed Podcast’s 4th Annual Pillow Fight Fundraiser Goes All Out for Mijo Things
The Buzzzed Podcast's Mijo-Palooza is back, and this year's 4th annual Pillow Fight Fundraiser proved that El Paso knows how to throw down for a good cause.
The event went down at The Yard Patio and Beer Garden, where Nation of Wrestling, El Paso's premier lucha organization, set up a full professional ring right in the middle of the venue. The ring looked absolutely glorious, and the crowd that packed the house was ready for every second of it.
A Night Full of Local Celebrity Contenders
The pillow fight portion of the evening was stacked with familiar faces from El Paso's entertainment and social media scene. TikTok star Lencho Brown stepped into the ring, and podcast favorites Jonny Lozano and Louie Zamorano were both in the mix, giving fans plenty to cheer about. From the moment the first match kicked off to the final bell, the ring was full of local celebs willing to take a hit for a great cause.
Nation of Wrestling Brought the Heat
Nation of Wrestling didn't just set up the ring and step aside. They wove some seriously intense professional wrestling matches into the night, elevating the whole event to another level. The standout of the evening was without a doubt the "I Quit" match between LTZ and Big Cat, a brutal, no-holds-barred bout where the only way to end it is to say the words out loud. The match ended with blood and bruises on both sides, and it ranks as one of the best performances from a local wrestling company that this city has seen.
A Cause Worth Fighting For
Every punch thrown and every pillow swung supported Mijo Things Foundation, a local non-profit dedicated to uplifting El Paso's youth. The event drew incredible support from the local community, with organizations including the Takeover Show Podcast, Marlak Productions, Death in a Hoodie, and Honey and Myrr all showing up alongside many others to make the night possible.
A Little Personal Business Got Handled
If you were at Nation of Wrestling's event "The Return" last year, you might remember a certain radio host getting yanked into the ring mid-emcee duties and beaten up by heel duo Investment Queens and Big Cat. Yeah, that was me.
Mijo-Palooza was redemption night. During Investment Queens' match with Hershey J, I spotted my opportunity, grabbed a chair right out of Queens' hands, and cold clocked him. Hershey J finished the job and took the win without much trouble after that. Consider us even. Mostly.
El Paso Shows Up
A packed crowd, an incredible cause, local legends in the ring, and one of the most memorable nights the El Paso entertainment scene has put together in a while. Mijo-Palooza keeps getting bigger, and if this year was any indication, year five might just blow the roof off entirely.
Keep up with Buzzzed Podcast and Mijo Things Foundation to stay in the loop on what's coming next.
