The Annual Concordia Cemetery Dia De Los Muertos Celebration Is Back
Concordia Cemetery is one of the most legendary historical sites in West Texas and it is right here in The Sun City. Not only is it home to some of Americas most infamous outlaws, Concordia is also the same cemetery that has been featured in countless ghost hunter shows including some of the biggest ones that ever aired on TV.
For years, paranormal investigators from all over the country have been searching Concordia Cemetery for signs of the after life, combing over headstones to get a glimpse of The Lady in White or the famous Portal to Hell!!
Now the ghosts and ghouls are always exciting but even MORE exciting is the intense history that lies within the walls of Concordia Cemetery. So many names buried beneath the earth here are the same names that helped to establish El Paso before it was officially El Paso. Powerful political figures, the industry makers that built the businesses that would help the city thrive, soldiers and different religions, different cultures. A deeply diverse history sits in Concordia and I think that is worth celebrating on Dia De Los Muertos.
The Concordia Heritage Association throws different events year round where you can come by and explore the history of the cemetery through both actors and storytellers as well as a simple stroll down the cemetery's lanes. One of the biggest events they throw is the annual Dia De Los Muertos event that fills the cemetery with new life.
Every year, Concordia opens the gates for guests to celebrate and honor the lives of the past and be sure that none of the bodies there are forgotten.
Come on out to Concordia on October 10th from 2pm-8pm and bring your best Dia De Lost Muertos fit for the Catrina/Catrin contest. Also, get your high school to sign up and get the spirits to dance because the High School Mariachi Competition will be going on during the Dia De Los Muertos celebration as well! Adult tickets are $8, Students are $4, and kids 6 and under are FREE!
