Can You Close Your Street For A Party In El Paso?

If you want to close off your street and throw a good, old fashioned, knock down, drag out, rock n roll party in the street, you totally can. There are rules though.

You can't just throw up a barricade and go nuts, the city of El Paso has a few hoops for you to jump through before your festivities can commence. First, as usual here in El Paso, it's going to cost you some money. The minimum is $137 for the permit application.

So, after you pay to have your party, then you have to pay again if there's a road closure involved. There could be a few other fees depending on what exactly you're doing, whether there's food and/or alcohol, etc. You also need insurance.

I'm not having one. It's already too complicated but if you're game, here's what you need to do.

Block Parties In El Paso

First, you have to apply for a permit. You can do that up to 1 year in advance but no less than 30 days before the event. That's the $137.00 fee I mentioned before.

Anybody whose property abuts or is affected by your party has to give you written permission. (There's a special form for that.) You also have to present the city with a site map and your plans for traffic control.
