Everything is bigger and better in Texas, including unique getaways. I don't know about you, but I would love to go on an African safari. I don't think it is something that will ever happen to me, so I will do the next best thing and have a safari experience right here in Texas. I won't have to travel far - the Blue Hills Ranch is located outside Waco in McGregor.

The Blue Hills Ranch is a 150-acre working ranch with more than 150 free animals. You’ll see everything from giraffes to deer to mini-pigs. There are five themed cabins you can stay in, or you can park your RV in one of the 14 RV spots. The giraffe and zebra-themed cabins each will accommodate up to four guests. The pirate-themed cabins will accommodate up to six guests. No matter where you decide to stay you can watch all these exotic animals - giraffes, zebras, otters, bison, kangaroos - roam free.

While staying at the Blue Hills Ranch, you can take part in several different "adventures". Some of these activities include swimming with otters, disc golf on the largest course in Texas, ATV rentals, dining with giraffes, and much more.

Blue Hills Ranch also has a 6,000-square-foot event barn for special events and weddings.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before you go:

• No smoking or open flames on ranch property

• Outside pets are not allowed outside the RV Area

• Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times

• Wild animals are present, and death or injury can occur

• No outside visitors or memberships are required

• Liability waiver must be signed by all visitors before entering the ranch

This could make for a great getaway. Space is limited, so you must book your stay far in advance.
