License Plate Theft Warning Issued for Belton, Killeen, Temple

I recently spoke with the Temple Police Department and asked if they found it odd that so many Texans were reporting their front plates missing. Their response? "Not at all. You’d be surprised how many calls we get about stolen license plates." According to them, it can happen during the day or at night — there’s no clear pattern.

If this happens to you or someone you know in Central Texas, the police recommend that you immediately go to the vehicle registration office and report the theft. You should be able to receive a replacement plate, but filing a report is essential — that step cannot be skipped. I understand it’s frustrating when something like this happens right under your nose. But the last thing you want is to get pulled over for a missing plate, especially when it’s not your fault.
