Authorities Need Your Help Tracking Down the Most Wanted Female in Texas

When you see a list of the most wanted fugitives in Texas, most of the time it is men.  However, one woman from Brazoria County sits on the list as a most wanted fugitive, charged with the death of her husband.

Margaret Lorrain Smith

Margaret Lorrain Smith is currently the most wanted woman by the Texas Department of Public Safety.  She is currently wanted for Capital Murder.  She is a white female, 65 years old, 48 at the time of her arrest, 5'6", and 185 pounds at the time of her arrest. Identifying marks include a mole on the bottom right eyelid.  Her last known city was Angleton, Texas.

Back on August 6, 2007, Smith was charged with hiring a man to kill her husband George Smith.   Law enforcement investigations found that Smith lured her husband to Surfside Beach, Texas.  She then left him sitting in the sand late at night, when the man she hired to kill George beat him to death with a metal object.  Smith along with the man that killed George Smith were indicted for Capital murder in September 2007.   Dylan James Laughrey was convicted in November 2008, however, Smith has yet to stand trial and has been on the run since August 11, 2009, when she fled Brazoria County while out on bond awaiting trial.

She was last seen on video at a San Antonio Walmart in a maroon sedan.
