(Dallas, Texas) Every once in a while, there are those situations that pop up and make you scratch your head and say, 'What in the hell is that person thinking?'

That's what many shoppers at a Dallas Target store were saying to themselves on November 13, along with saying, 'This could only happen in Texas'.

A shopper was filmed escorting their horse inside the store to do some shopping with them. In this digital age of social media, it went viral after being posted on TikTok with the caption:

This was cute for like 3 seconds till the whole store smelled like horse

Why Bring a Horse Into Target?

After seeing this video, I have several questions. First, this Target store is just north of downtown Dallas in an urban area, so it’s not like someone keeps horses at home or nearby. Second, if the horse dropped manure, who would have to clean it up? I do care for animals, but in my opinion, this is a bit much. But hey, this cowgirl with the tan hat and her horse with a matching hat are getting their 7 seconds of fame on TikTok!

Texans and Their Animals in Public Spaces

We've seen videos of people on horseback before, but they're usually in a drive-thru ordering and keeping their horses outside.

Remember the Plano Monkey Incident?

Seeing this video reminds me of the pet monkey that got loose from its owners' grasp while shopping in a Spirit Halloween store in Plano about a month ago. The monkey got spooked by one of the animatronics and went wild, jumping from store displays to swinging from the rafters!

Common-Sense Rules for Animals in Stores

For the most part, Texans are accommodating when it comes to pets and animals in public. We just need to use common sense and not bring animals into stores and restaurants, other than legitimate service animals. They're fine in places like a pet store or Tractor Supply, but not Target.
