More Narcissists Live in This City Than Anywhere Else in Texas

CounselingPsychology.org conducted a study to find where narcissists in the United States are most likely to live by using Google search data collected over the past year from every state, as well as searches from the top 30 most populous cities.

Search data was divided into 4 different categories: narcissists at work, narcissists in families, narcissists in relationships, and learning about narcissists.

Before we get into the results, let's look at the actual definition of the term narcissist. The word seems to have grown in popularity over the last couple of years, and sometimes I see it thrown around incorrectly.

Dictionary.com defines a narcissist as "a person who is overly self-involved, and often vail and selfish."

A narcissistic person lacks empathy, craves attention, exploits others for their gain, manipulates others, displays feelings of grandiosity, and struggles with criticism, among other undesirable personality traits.

In essence, narcissists are people who feel a sense of superiority and entitlement and who tend to believe that they are inherently better than those around them.

The study found that Texans are researching narcissists more than anyone else in the United States. The city of El Paso was also found to have more Google searches for topics involving narcissism than any other Texas city.

Surprisingly,  Austin ranked #1, not only just over Texas but over the entire United States for the city with the LEAST number of narcissists. The study revealed that people in Austin very rarely research narcissism online.

The top 3 Google searches in the United States on the subject of narcissism are:

 1. Can narcissists change?

2. What does narcissist mean?

3. Are narcissists insecure?

The top 3 most narcissistic relationships are:

1. Mom

2. Husband

3. Boyfriend

Here's what I take from this study:

It's kind of hard to prove that there are truly more narcissists in El Paso, or even in Texas, based solely on this information.

Proving someone is truly a narcissist is kind of iffy. It could even be viewed as a matter of opinion. Also, if someone is a narcissist, they probably aren't going to run around telling everyone.

However, you can certainly prove that there are more people concerned with the subject of narcissism in the Lone Star State by this study. Texas is spending a LOT of time researching narcissists.

In my opinion, we can only truly infer from the results of the study that there is likely a correlation between the number of Google searches and the number of narcissists in Texas.
