Brittany from Visiting Angels stopped by the studio, and we actually managed to discuss some important community events between laughs and a completely unexpected detour into “earth science.” I’m still not convinced either one of us should be teaching that class, but we had fun.
More importantly, Brittany shared how Visiting Angels is helping Abilene fight Alzheimer’s while supporting the families and caregivers affected by it.
Abilene Walk to End Alzheimer’s Returns September 26
The 2026 Abilene Walk to End Alzheimer’s happens Saturday, September 26, at Grover Nelson Park, located at 2070 Zoo Lane. Registration and activities begin at 9 a.m., followed by the ceremony and walk at 9:30 a.m. Participants can tackle either a one-mile or two-mile route.
There’s no registration fee, but walkers are encouraged to donate, raise money, or put together a team. The money supports Alzheimer’s research along with care and resources for families facing this brutal disease.
Halloween, Classic Cars and a Great Cause
Visiting Angels will keep the fundraising rolling with its 5th Annual Spooktacular Car Show and Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, October 24.
The Halloween celebration runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 2550 Barrow Street in the Drug Emporium parking lot. Expect cool cars, decorated trunks, costumes, candy, and plenty of family-friendly fun, all benefiting the fight against Alzheimer’s.
