Why Easter Still Matters So Much in Texas

In today’s fast-moving world, holidays sometimes feel like one big blur. They come and then they're gone. It's like we don't have enough time to cover the real meaning of the holiday. But here in Texas, Easter still hits differently, and it’s not just about Peeps and egg hunts.

Family Traditions Still Shine Bright in Texas

For many of us, Easter weekend is about getting back together as a family, whether it’s in a church pew, around the dinner table, or out at a community event like an Easter egg hunt. Growing up, my mom made the biggest deal about dressing us in pastel shirts, we hated those shirts in “girl colors,” and dragging us to sunrise church service. At the time, I didn’t get it. Today? I wouldn’t trade those memories for the world.

The Little Moments Become Big Memories

In Texas, it’s the little traditions that hold all the weight. Like deviled eggs, made from Grandma’s secret recipe (that my wife still makes to perfection), a family photo where someone always blinks or looks away, or the cousin who hides the golden Easter egg in the same flower pot every year. These may seem small, but they’re the heartbeat of our holidays.

Easter Means Spring Is in Full Bloom

Easter in Texas also means springtime is officially here. Wildflowers are blooming, warm breezes are blowing, and those front porch conversations with loved ones go on all afternoon. We slow down. We reflect. We reconnect.

A Reminder of What Really Matters

Whether you're heading to a big church celebration, grilling out in the backyard, or just hunting for a little peace and quiet this Easter, remember, this season still has the power to connect us.

Sometimes, the biggest blessings come in small, simple moments. And if you’re lucky, maybe a chocolate bunny too.

Happy Easter, y’all.
