The syndicated television program "The Texas Bucket List" recently stopped into  Abilene to visit a sweet treats shop that has been around for over a hundred years. If you haven't stopped by yourself, you need to put it on your bucket list, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Texas Bucket List founder and host Shane McAuliffe stopped in at Candies by Vletas to discover all the confections made right here in Abilene. While Shane and TBL were learning all about the different sweet treats manufactured in the heart of the Key City, the show's trailer reminded me to go buy V-day presents for my wife.

So, before Valentine's Day, I will be stopping at Candies by Vletas because it is a treat that I include with my gift-giving to my wife and daughters. While my daughters are not big fans of nuts, they do enjoy the chocolate-covered strawberries and other delicacies you'll find at this one-of-a-kind store.

The star of this particular TBL episode is one of my all-time favorites: the pecan pralines. I am a huge junkie for the pralines. I have tried for years to sell them to my wife and daughters by saying, "They are nutritious as well as delicious." Once you've had them nothing else will match up. The pralines come from a recipe that's over one hundred years old and remains a secret family recipe today.

When I buy a bag of pralines, they stay by my side. Yes, even by the bedside - they are that good. The Texas Bucket List show is letting the whole world know about our sweet hometown secret. Drop in to enjoy some of the Key City's best treats!
