High Valley’s Brad Rempel Was in Cancun When Honduras Earthquake Hit

Brad Rempel of High Valley woke up to a scary situation while on vacation in Mexico. The singer felt the effects of the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Honduras on Tuesday night (Jan. 9), which shook parts of the Cayman and Caribbean Islands and Cancun.

Rempel reported himself safe on Wednesday (Jan. 10), revealing that he was staying in Cancun when the earthquake occurred and could still feel the effects, even though he was just over 400 miles away from Honduras.

"Amazing trip to #Cancun ended last night with our condo shaking like crazy as a result of an earthquake off the coast of Honduras," Rempel shares on Instagram next to a stunning beach shot showing white sand and crystal blue water from the window of the condo they were staying in. "Thankful to be safe and sound back on American soil!"

The reports that the 7.6 magnitude makes this one of the most powerful earthquakes to hit the Caribbean in modern day history. Tsunami warnings were put into effect after the earthquake struck, but were ultimately canceled.

Originally from Canada, High Valley brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel broke onto the country music scene with their radio hit, "Make You Mine." They released their latest album, Dear Life, in 2017. Curtis and his wife welcomed their second child, daughter Millie June, in April of 2017.
