Here’s Where Kids Can Get Their Covid-19 Vaccine Shots in Abilene
On November 2nd the Center for Disease Control approved a COVID-19 vaccine that can be administered to children age 5 to 11 years old. The specific vaccine that is being recommended by the CDC, is the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine.
The CDC says that this will expand vaccination to about 28 million children in the United States. Providers can begin vaccinating children as soon they receive the vaccine and the information for applying the vaccine.

The distribution of the pediatric vaccine has already been distributed to thousands of locations across the US and throughout Texas. The country-wide distribution will begin to go to "full capacity" beginning Monday, November 8th. The pediatric COVID-19 vaccine will go out to thousands of pediatric doctor's offices, pharmacies, urgent care facilities, and federally qualified health centers.
The CDC says, "COVID-19 cases in children can result in hospitalizations, deaths, MIS-C with inflammatory syndromes and long-term complications, such as “long COVID,” in which symptoms can linger for months. The spread of the NEW covid-19 Delta variant has caused a surge of COVID-19 cases in children throughout Texas and the U.S."

Walensky, M.D., M.P.H. says "Vaccination, along with other preventative measures, can protect children from the coronavirus, using safe and effective vaccines are recommended for use in adolescents and adults as well."
