Eric + Katherine Church’s Cutest Relationship Moments [PICTURES]
In 2008, Eric Church married Katherine Blasingame at Westglow Spa & Resort in Blowing Rock, N.C. The couple had stayed at the resort before, and, he tells CMT, “We decided that it would be the ideal spot to get married, up in the North Carolina mountains, with just family around us. I can’t imagine a more perfect spot.”
During Church's wedding, the now-country star performed a song he wrote for his new wife, called "You Make It Look So Easy;" the song appears on his record Carolina. It was a surprise for Katherine, and it was a surprising move for Church: "I hate love songs," he admits. "I have a hard time with them. I think they’ve been done so many times, and I hate stuff that’s just your cliches."
"I thought, 'There’s got to be another way to do this.' I decided that the best way was to just be honest. There’s a 'drink too much' line in there. That’s honest," he adds. "At the wedding is the first time Katherine really heard the whole thing. She cried. Everybody cried. That’s me baring my soul, there."
Since his and Katherine's wedding, Church has released several albums and, even more importantly, become the father of two children, both boys: Boone McCoy and Tennessee Hawkins. Through it all, Katherine's love has been a source of steadiness for Church.
“True love to me is when you love a person in spite of all their fallibilities, and for me, I have a lot of them,” Church says. “I’m definitely at times hard to love, and that’s what’s great about Katherine and the way she loves me. She loves me in spite of those things, and really for those things.”
He, too, works at keeping their relationship strong ... even braving horseback riding to spend time with his wife.
"My wife loves horses, so sometimes I'll get on a horse and go riding with her. I am not a horse person, but I'll do it just to be with her for a little bit," he tells Rolling Stone. She stays with me on the road. With kids, it's hard, but we just try to find a quiet spot together, somewhere, sometime, and that's usually enough."
