After a brief hiatus in 2020, the much-loved Christmas Lane will return to the Abilene State Supported Living Center (2501 Maple Street) from December 3-26 as a drive-through-only event.

Christmas Lane will be open on weekends December 3-19, from 6-9 PM on Thursdays and Sunday, and December 20-23 from 6-10 PM.

While this event is free to the public, any entry donations will go directly to benefitting residents of the Abilene State Supported Living Center.

What is Christmas Lane?

Established by the Abilene Volunteer Services Council, which raises funds to help the Abilene State Supported Living Center, has hosted the annual Christmas Lane car ride for the last 32 years. This is one of the Living Center's biggest yearly fundraisers.

Visitors drive through the Living Center's campus to enjoy over a hundred displays with lights, inflatables, and more. The displays are often a nod to local businesses and Christmas icons, like Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, and Nativity scenes.

2021's Christmas Lane will look a little different this year, for the safety of both the public and the Center itself. While around 20 people are usually involved in Christmas Lane, that number has been severely reduced. COVID-19 protocols since March 2020 also mean that visitors have not been on the Abilene State Supported Living Center campus in quite some time.

Again, this event is drive-through only. Santa Claus will not be on-hand for photographs, and you are not allowed to exit your vehicle.

Until concessions, indoor train displays, and Santa return to the Living Center, give what you can this holiday season, and cruise through Christmas Lane in Abilene.
