In October, Dolly Parton celebrated 50 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. On Tuesday (Nov. 26), country music fans will get to share in the special moment, when NBC broadcasts Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Opry, a two-hour television special featuring highlights from the big night.
Dierks Bentley, Chris Janson, Lady Antebellum and more were all on hand for Parton's big night. The country icon officially joined the Opry in January 1969, and the television special will share both performances from the celebratory show and highlights from throughout Parton's career.
"The night that I actually became a member 50 years ago was one of the highlights of my whole life because it was a true dream of mine," Parton says. "You never know what's going to happen to you in your life. You never know if your dreams will come true. And if they do, you wonder how people will remember you when you're older."
