Things might have just gotten a little tougher for the Dallas Cowboys for this season.  Just a few days after a horrible performance, the ‘Boys announced that tight end, Jason Witten, has an injured spleen and will be out for a while.

According to ESPN, Witten suffered the injury during Monday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders after taking a hit from linebacker Rolando McClain in the first quarter. Early evaluations say that his spleen is not ruptured, which is good news for Cowboys fans.  However, it looks like he’ll at least be out for the rest of the preseason and maybe longer depending on the injury itself.  He will be reevaluated at the end of the preseason and if he is not bleeding and does not need surgery, he should be good to go in the season opener against the Giants.  If he does require surgery, he could be out for the entire year.

We’ll keep you updated with more info as we get it.  One thing is for sure, is that the dude is one tough son of a gun as he has played through a broken jaw, a broken rib and even played without a helmet.

So, how well do you think Jason Witten will come back from this injury? Do the Cowboys chances of a successful season depend on Witten?
