Chris Stapleton’s Canceled Tour Dates Are Due to Broken Bone, Detached Tendon
On Wednesday (May 31), Chris Stapleton unexpectedly postponed three weeks of scheduled shows without offering a reason. Late Thursday night (June 1), he explained why.
"After seeing a specialist, I have some information to share. I’m on the road to recovery from a broken bone & a detached tendon in my right index finger," he writes in a post called 'A Letter From Chris' at his official website. "The doctor is hopeful that with some physical therapy I will be playing guitar again soon. Right now, I can’t possibly give you guys the show you deserve. I always want to give you my very best."
Stapleton thanked his fans for the "support and understanding," "positive thoughts and kind words" and "patience and graciousness" after he put tour plans on hold. His rehabilitation means that he'll have to cancel an appearance at CMA Fest 2017, which cannot be rescheduled. His earlier post, which was actually made by his team, indicated that the All-American Road Show Tour will pick up again in late June — the dates affected by his injury were June 1 through a June 17 show in Noblesville, Ind. It's not clear when shows will be rescheduled.
The country crooner released his Dave Cobb-produced album From A Room: Volume 1 on May 5. It was recorded at the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville.
