Carly Pearce and Michael Ray Cover Johnny + June at the Grand Ole Opry [WATCH]
Country music's newest couple, Carly Pearce and Michael Ray, treated fans to a special duet onstage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. on Tuesday evening (Aug. 7) during Pearce's scheduled performance. Ray joined the "Hide the Wine" singer onstage for a rendition of June Carter and Johnny Cash's iconic hit, "Jackson," and both performers were all smiles as they sang. They finished off the duet with an onstage kiss.
"Found me a man who loves the #opry as much as I do AND got to sing 'Jackson' with him tonight in the circle," Pearce gushed in an Instagram post depicting the kiss that closed out the couple's performance. "HEART. EXPLOSION."
Ray shared the same photograph, commenting "Tonight I played my favorite stage with my favorite woman." To add to the adorableness of the evening, the Grand Ole Opry's official Twitter featured video footage of the performance, dubbing Pearce and Ray "#RelationshipGoals." Fans first began to suspect that romance was afoot between the two country stars when the two began trading flirtatious Instagram comments in the summer of 2018. On July 19, the couple confirmed the rumors, saying that the relationship began "one random night at the Nashville Palace," according to Pearce. Ray also added that they got their start over "old classic country music."
Since Ray and Pearce announced their relationship, fans have been hoping for an onstage collaboration between the two. While more duets may well be in the couple's future, the Grand Ole Opry certainly isn't a bad place to start!
Both artists are country up-and-comers quickly establishing themselves as hitmakers. Recently, Pearce won the 2018 CMT Music Awards for Breakthrough Video of the Year trophy, and Ray released his sophomore album, Amos, in June.
