Canaan Smith and his crew were the victims of a car break-in on Tuesday (June 20). The singer lost a guitar and some gear to the thief.

Smith shared photos of his rental car's smashed window on Instagram, calling the break-in a "nightmare ending to a great day." The first photo shows the broken window, while the second photo shows shattered glass laying across the car's floor.

"They took guitar, in-ears, computers, etc …,” Smith shares. The singer has not shared an update on the situation.

Unfortunately, Smith's recent car break-in isn't the first time he's encountered trouble on the road: In July of 2016, the singer's tour bus caught fire.

Smith isn't the first country artist to become the victim of a car burglar, either: In 2016 alone, Americana band the Black Lillies had their entire van and trailer -- containing their gear and merch -- stolen from a hotel parking lot, while Amanda Shires lost not only instruments but a journal containing her thesis writing and new song ideas to a Chicago thief. Kacey Musgraves, meanwhile, had someone steal some brand-new boots out of her car while she was at a show in Nashville; luckily for her, the man in question was caught shortly thereafter, while trying to return the stolen goods.

In April, Smith released a brand-new single, "Like You That Way," to country radio. His self-titled debut album, released in 2015, spawned the No. 1 single "Love You Like That." Smith has a number of tour dates scheduled throughout the summer.
