Adidas CEO Says the Brand Signs Up for Kanye West’s Creative Work Not His Statements
Despite Kanye West’s tendencies to make controversial political statements and ensure his involvement despite previously stating otherwise, it appears as though his outspokenness doesn’t impact his working relationship with Adidas.
Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted spoke with CNBC on Wednesday (Nov. 7) and during the conversation, revealed that West’s antics won’t result in the company cutting ties with the rapper anytime soon.
"We don't sign up to all the statements he makes," Rorsted shared. "We sign up for all the creative work we jointly do, which has been extremely successful for both parties.”
The CEO also shared that he anticipates to work with Ye “for years to come,” as well as stated how there’s been “absolutely no slowdown” regarding their high profile collaboration.
"If [West] stays away from politics, that's his choice," Rorsted added, going on to mention the Yandhi rapper attended a brand meeting earlier in the week. "We've had a great relationship with him."
Interestingly, West kept quiet on Election Day, choosing not to share any of his thoughts on the 2018 Midterms with his audience on Twitter. Last week, after Candace Owens apologized for involving him in her Blexit Merch, the rapper claimed he wanted to distance himself from politics.
