Now Hiring in Abilene: I Took a Tour Inside AbiMar Foods and Here’s What I Found
Every now and then, you get a behind-the-scenes look at something you’ve driven past a hundred times… and it completely changes how you see it. That was Rudy and me this week at AbiMar Foods.
From North to South: This Place Is a Machine (In a Good Way)
We got the full tour, including the North facility, South facility, and even the Welcome Center, where they handle hiring and orientation. First thing that hit me? This place is dialed in.

There’s a ton of automation running the show, but it’s not all robots and buttons. They still run manual lines, too, which means real people are still a huge part of the process.
And let me tell you… There’s a LOT more that goes into making those cookies and crackers than you think. Also… yes, we learned a few secrets which I cannot divulge since, ya know, I like to be employed.
Safety and Cleanliness? They Don’t Mess Around
Before we even stepped onto the floor, it was game time:
- Goggles
- Hair nets
- White coats
- My shorts? (RIP freedom)
They hooked me up with some very stylish pants, though. So I basically looked like a snack factory scientist.
But seriously… the level of cleanliness and safety was next level. You can tell they take pride in doing things the right way.
Zero Waste and Smart Operations
One of the coolest things we learned? They don’t waste anything.
Between smart production systems and efficient processes, everything has a purpose. That’s something you don’t always see in big operations, and it stood out big time.
A Workplace That Feels Like a Community
Another thing that hit me is that this place is super diverse.
They’ve got employees from all over the world, speaking 14 different languages inside one facility. That tells you everything you need to know about the culture:
- Teamwork
- Opportunity
- Everyone’s welcome
And Yeah… They’re Hiring Right Now
They’ve got a TON of openings right now, including:
- Production Workers
- Forklift Operators
- Machine Operators (multiple levels)
- Maintenance Technicians & Mechanics
- Packaging & Assembly Line Positions
- Quality Control Techs
- Warehouse, logistics, and trucking roles
- Supervisors and leads
Basically… if you want in, there’s probably a lane for you.
