West Texas Ready to Play Ball with Abilene Flying Bison
For someone whose baseball knowledge doesn't reach much farther than The Sandlot, I was still stoked to hear about the arrival of the Flying Bison in West Texas. Abilene's new semi-pro baseball team is part of the Mid-America Baseball League.
Other teams in the league include the Texarkana Rhinos, Sherman Shadowcats, Piney Woods Timberhogs, Joplin Outlaws (MO), and Fort Smith Marshals (AR).

The league's 2024 inaugural season begins May 23 and concludes August 10. Playoffs begin August 12.
The Flying Bison game day giveaways will include replica home jerseys (May 28), pennants (May 29), Bison bobbleheads (June 26), and T-shirts (every Tuesday).
Opening night for the Flying Bison is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, at McMurry University's Walt Driggers Field. Game begins at 7:15 p.m.
Make plans to come out and watch Abilene's new baseball team swing for the fences. Dates and tickets for the season are available here.
