‘Funny How Time Slips Away’ Wins Musical Event of the Year at the 2017 CMA Awards
"Funny How Time Slips Away" has claimed the title of Musical Event of the Year at the 2017 CMA Awards. The trophy was awarded to Willie Nelson and the late Glen Campbell on Wednesday morning (Nov. 8), ahead of the CMA Awards ceremony.
Kelsea Ballerini and Good Morning America host Lara Spencer revealed Campbell and Nelson's win live from Nashville on GMA. The 2017 version of “Funny How Time Slips Away” is a collaboration between longtime friends Nelson and Campbell. Their remake of the early Nelson classic is featured on Campbell’s final album, Adios. Campbell died exactly three months ago, on Aug. 8; his family will be in attendance at the 2017 CMA Awards on Wednesday night.
The other 2017 CMA Awards Musical Event of the Year nominees were "Setting the World on Fire" (Kenny Chesney and Pink), "Kill a Word" (Eric Church and Rhiannon Giddens), "Speak to a Girl" (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) and "Craving You" (Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris).
The 2017 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the ceremony for the 10th year in a row.
