Country legend Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives turned a recent performance on Later ... With Jools Holland into a tribute to the late Tom Petty. Press play above to watch the musicians transition from Stuart's own "Time Don't Wait" into Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream" while performing on the show.

Stuart and his crew have a long history with one of Petty's Heartbreakers bandmates, Mike Campbell. Stuart and the Heartbreakers guitarist first met in the 1990s, during a recording sessions for Johnny Cash's album Unchained.

"He was obviously a lifer in the Heartbreakers," Stuart tells Rolling Stone Country of Campbell. "Tom gives that band songs that are so good -- off-the-chart good -- and Campbell is one of those who absolutely knows what to do with those songs. When I met him, he was a quiet guy, but every time he spoke, it mattered. And every time he picked up his guitar, it mattered, too."

More recently, Campbell produced Stuart's album Way Out West. Stuart noted his friendship with Campbell and his respect for Petty at the end of his "Runnin' Down a Dream" performance, simply stating, "We love you, Tom Petty, and all the Heartbreakers."

Stuart will be returning to the U.S. at the end of the month to close out his 2017 tour. A list of tour dates can be found at his website.
