
Texas Heroes Now Heading To Fight California Fire In Droves
Texas is known as a land rich in history, filled with diverse cultures and heritage, but most of all we are a friendly people that are known for helping our neighbors. Our name comes from the Spanish spelling for the Native American Caddo language meaning, "Friend."

With all the devastation going on with the wildfires in California, we are quickly reminded that just about everything in our lives can be taken away, but thankfully for us Texans, our word is not one of them.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott Sending Members Of TDEM To California
According to this KCEN article, over 135 firefighters and aid from the Texas Division of Emergency Management and Texas A&M Forest Service have been deployed to assist with combating the multiple fires ravaging Southern California right now. Among those that have been sent are four members of the Killeen Fire Department and another from Morgan's Point.
What Are Killeen And Morgan's Point, Texas Firefighters Doing In California?

Many of the deployed firefighters are heading to California on a two week assignment, it is unknown whether they will come back home as scheduled, or remain for longer. It is not uncommon for firefighters to extend their tours if there is work still to be done to contain the fires.

In addition to personnel, 45 fully loaded emergency vehicles have also been sent.
