Special Designed Texas License Plates

Two new Texas license plate designs have been released and are now available to all Texans.  This means that if you prefer a sleek, dark design, you’re going to love these new license plates.

These plates fall into the Premium Embossed category, which expands the category to 8 choices.

The New License Plate Designs

You can choose from the carbon fiber embossed plate or the black & white embossed plate.  These plates bring the nostalgia of the Texas license plates that were available in the 60s.

Over 2,000 of these plates were pre-ordered, so you'll start seeing them on cars and trucks in Texas very soon.

These plates are customizable, so you can personalize it however you want (or what the state of Texas will allow) up to 7 letters.  These plates are available through MyPlates.com

What is MyPlates.com

MyPlates.com is a website and a Texas-based business that designs and sells specialty license plates for the State of Texas. This is the website you go to when you want a special license plate and not the basic plates you see on most vehicles in Texas.  According to their website, the Texas DMV decided in 2019 that all Texas license plates would be available through My Plates for convenience.

Fun Fact About Texas License Plates

All the flat-print license plates are created by inmates in the Wynne Correctional facility in Huntsville through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  If you get the fancy embossed those are not created by the TDCJ.
