The Gulf of America? Trump’s Bold New Name Change Has Texans Talking
Trump called the change “appropriate” and praised the name for its strong, all-American vibe. "The Gulf of America—it covers a lot of territory. What a beautiful name. It’s appropriate," he said with his trademark Trumpy confidence.
While details about the timeline are still unclear, the announcement has already stirred up reactions across the country. Some are all-in on the name change, saying it’s about time the U.S. puts its stamp on the Gulf. Others, however, are raising their eyebrows, pointing out the historical and geographical significance of the original name.
Here in Texas, where the Gulf is part of our identity, people are split. For generations, Texans have fished, swum (or is it 'swam'???), and sailed in those waters, proudly calling it the Gulf of Mexico. Will rebranding it really change anything? Or is this just another 'nothing burger'?
Social media is already buzzing with hot takes. Some are joking about whether hurricanes will need visas to cross into the "Gulf of America," while others are imagining how this change might affect maps, textbooks, and tourism ads. I can picture it now--“Vacation on the Gulf of America”! It definitely has a ring to it!
