Terrifying Video Shows Plane Wing Falling Apart Landing in Texas
Absolutely not. Just another justification for my severe flight anxiety.
A passenger on a Delta flight captured a nightmare mid-air as part of the plane’s wing was literally falling apart. The video shows a section of the Boeing 737’s wing flapping loosely in the wind, barely hanging on as the plane descended toward the runway.
Flight falling apart while arriving in Texas.
The flight, traveling from Orlando to Austin, had been cruising thousands of feet above ground when passengers started feeling intense shaking. Many assumed it was turbulence, until someone glanced out the window and realized a piece of the wing was coming undone.
The mood instantly shifted from uneasy laughter to quiet panic. One traveler said it felt like the plane was “coming apart mid-air.” The sound of rattling metal filled the cabin while the dangling panel continued to twist and bend.
The pilot managed to land the aircraft safely, but that video has since gone viral, mostly because it’s every anxious flyer’s worst-case scenario come to life. This is exactly the reason I take a little trip to the bar right before my flights.
For those of us already gripping the armrests before takeoff, this is just more proof that the universe wants us to stay on the ground.
Officials are investigating what caused the mechanical failure, though Delta has yet to release a full statement. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed it’s reviewing maintenance records for the aircraft involved.
Meanwhile, social media has collectively decided: we’re driving from now on.
