Texas experienced some of the strongest straight-line winds I can recall last Friday (March 14). While the wind wreaked havoc here in North Texas, it was nothing compared to what hit the Panhandle. Those winds were downright frightening.

The dust storm that resulted from the winds drastically reduced visibility on the roadways, leading to a deadly multi-vehicle pileup on I-27 just outside of Amarillo. Traveling isn’t advisable in those conditions, but for some folks, that’s not an option – especially truck drivers who are up against deadlines.

However, many deadlines weren’t met. As you can see in the video below, the Panhandle wind was so strong that it lifted multiple semis up and tossed them on their sides as if they were toys. Luckily, some of the trucks didn’t flip all the way over and the drivers were able to regain control.

It’s not even officially spring yet and we’ve already seen some wild weather here in the Lone Star State. We’re used to it, though. It’s damn near always storm season in this neck of the woods.

Not to mention the fact that the weather here is as unpredictable as it gets. About the only thing you can count on is that it will be hotter than hell from June – August. Other than that, all bets are off.
