It's typical- you're already running late, and then you catch every red light. A pedestrian crosses slowly, and the person in front of you takes too long to turn right on red.

It's frustrating, but a little patience will usually see you through, and you probably should have left earlier anyway.

But imagine you did leave on time, and then you get caught waiting for a slow-moving train that's three miles long. After waiting seven minutes for it to crawl past, you truly are late now.

That is what is happening in some Texas towns as they contend with so-called monster trains, which are extremely long and move slowly.

Monster trains exist because they, "make higher profits because they can haul more goods with [fewer] locomotives and less crew," according to zerohedge.com.

In the video below, you can see that this slow-moving train takes over six minutes to pass:

Perhaps you can be a little late to work or drop your kids off with this excuse, but what about emergency vehicles? In the case of a medical emergency, an ongoing crime or a fire, seven minutes can absolutely cost people their property or lives.

Additionally, because the trains move so slowly, some pedestrians or bicyclists may risk an attempt to go in between cars, which is extremely dangerous.

A Corsicana, Texas woman died when she went between what she thought were stationary cars, however, the cars moved for unloading and she was killed, according to Fox 4 News.

Texas has more block rail crossings reported than any other state, as goods make their way from the Gulf Coast. There are no regulations limiting train length, so at least for now, we will be expected to wait....and wait...and wait.
