Food Insecurity in Texas Reaches Over 5 Million People Daily
(KNUE-FM) It’s not shocking to many people in Texas to hear that people are struggling.
We have all felt it, things are costing more, and our dollars just aren’t stretching as far as they have in the past.
While it’s tough to hear, there are millions of people that are food insecure here in the Lone Star State.
How Many Texans Need Food Daily?
According to Feeding America, Texas has a food insecurity rate of 17.2% which is about 5.4 million people who aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from.
That is a 9% increase from the same report that was released in 2022.
Most people are dealing with higher prices on food, rent, gas, and utilities.
As hard working as Texans are it’s just difficult to pay for everything and keep food on the table.
