(KNUE-FM) It’s incredible how much the world is changing all around us right now, even in East Texas. Recently, we heard about Robotaxis getting started in Austin, Texas. We have heard about robot food deliveries too. But it might not be very long until your next food order on Door Dash might be delivered by drone.

Doordash Launching New Drone Delivery in North Texas

According to WFAA, areas like Frisco or Little Elm can now get food deliveries by drone. Doordash has partnered with Flytrex a drone delivery company. Currently the service is limited to specific restaurants and at specific times, but the service will expand as the pilot program has already been successful with over 1,000 deliveries.

How Much Can These Texas Food Delivery Drones Carry?

Currently these drones can carry up to 6.6 pounds, but there is already work in progress to create the next-generation models which will increase capacity to 8.8 pounds. While it might take multiple drone deliveries if you’re having a party or feeding a bunch of people, convenience is what people love most.

Would You Want Your Dinner Delivered by Drone?

It’s interesting to think that our favorite meal from our favorite restaurants might soon have the capability to be delivered to our front door in just a matter of minutes. It’s amazing technology, although I do worry about food delivery as I have 2 dogs that would love to get to the drone delivery before I do.

Are you excited for drone deliveries to come to East Texas as the service continues to expand across Texas? I would love to know your thoughts you can always email me at billy.jenkins@townsquaremedia.com
