75 Pounds of Marijuana Found in Suitcases at Dallas Airport
I’m not sure if you heard about this last week at a Texas airport, but there was one woman who got into some major trouble after her bag broke open at Dallas Love Field and airline staff discovered that she was traveling with an illegal substance. According to NBCDFW, police say the woman was traveling from Las Vegas to Dallas when detectives found the drugs in her three suitcases.
Suitcase Incident at Dallas Love Field
It probably wouldn’t make the news if this woman had just a tiny amount of marijuana packed into her bags. But instead the woman was arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana stuffed inside her three suitcases. Marijuana remains largely illegal under Texas law so there will be some serious charges for trying to pack this much into her luggage.

How Police Found the Marijuana
Last week police said they were notified that a bag had broken open and a large amount of marijuana was visible inside. Narcotics detectives were dispatched and they found the passenger’s two additional suitcases also full of vacuum-sealed pouches of the green leafy substance.

Who Was Arrested
The airline was able to identify that the suitcases belonged to 25-year-old passenger Jennifer Manzanares-Herrera, and she was taken into custody at the airport. Manzanares-Herrera was traveling from Las Vegas to North Texas when she was detained and is now facing a charge of possession of between 50 and 2,000 pounds of marijuana which is a second-degree felony.
Manzanares-Herrera is being held on a $25,000 bond in the Dallas County Jail. At this point, it’s unclear if she has obtained an attorney. Remember that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
