Fraud Alert In Texas As Bank Warns Customers Of New Scam To Steal Your Money

Scams continue to run rampant in Texas as many folks are in danger of losing their hard-earned money because of some dumb fraud.

New Texas Bank Scam

Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union in Texas sent out a social media post on Monday, March 24th, warning their customers of a new scam where it appears that the bank is calling you to tell you that your account is in serious danger.

Texas Scams Growing

Scammers are continuing to try new methods to take our money in various ways including banks, home repairs, phishing scams, bogus debt collectors, and more. These days, it unfortunately doesn't take much to get enough personal information from someone in order to lie and scam their way into our lives.

According to the Dallas Observer, Texans reported over $900 million in fraud in 2024 with over 80,000 reported cases of fraud. Yikes! That's a lot of lost money. I can't even scam my wife out of a few extra bucks for beer money.

Common Texas Scams

The Attorney General of Texas's website lists some telltale signs that you are being scammed. If someone contacts you and wants your personal information, that's red flag number one that you are being scammed. Legitimate businesses and callers will never ask for personal information over the phone and will never ask for money from you.
