Months after marrying my wife, Donna, I discovered that she also loves history. She reads about it often, and we both enjoy visiting places where we can step back in time and feel like we’re reliving history.

The place I'm referring to is the Hangar Hotel and Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas. Not only can you stay at the historic hangar that once housed warbirds and is filled with military history, but it's also an event venue. With the Marine Corps Reserve’s birthday on August 29, it’s the perfect getaway.

This attraction is for adults ages 18 and up. The Hangar Hotel and Museum features an exterior resembling a World War II hangar from the early 1940s. Inside, you'll find a 1940s Hawaiian tiki bar, a gift shop with vintage souvenirs, and nostalgic food.

The Hangar Hotel offers a stylish adult environment with airplane memorabilia, USO history, and the romance of the 1940s. The Hangar Hotel and Museum in Fredericksburg is closed only on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. But on New Year's Eve, you can party like the 1940s, complete with period-appropriate attire, music, food, and beverages. Relive a roaring time in American history.
